Bien souvent dans un album que vous achetez, tout ne vous pla\u00eet pas autant. Certains titres vous font tilt, et d’autres vous \u00ab\u00a0emmerde\u00a0\u00bb. Ou vous pouvez avoir \u00e9galement plusieurs morceaux que vous appr\u00e9ciez. C’est ce qu’il m’est arriv\u00e9 pour cet album de 1984, j’aime quelques titres, mais par contre je suis tomb\u00e9 fou amoureux d’un morceau, morceau que m’avait conseill\u00e9 mon ami Guy l’am\u00e9ricain, je vous ai d\u00e9j\u00e0 parl\u00e9 de lui.<\/p>\n

Vous ne pouvez imaginer le nombre d’albums que j’ai achet\u00e9 uniquement pour un morceau. Mais Guy connaissait bien mes go\u00fbts, j’y allais les yeux ferm\u00e9s. Surtout que je connaissais DAN FOGELBERG<\/strong> depuis 1979, et l’album Phoenix.\u00a0Ce fameux\u00a0morceau s’intitule donc\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0TUCSON ARIZONA (GAZETTE<\/strong>)\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

DAN FOGELBERG<\/strong> \u00e9tait un tr\u00e8s important auteur compositeur am\u00e9ricain, il est n\u00e9\u00a0le 13 ao\u00fbt 1951\u00a0\u00e0 Peoria, dans l’\u00c9tat de l’Illinois, et d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 d’un cancer le\u00a016 d\u00e9cembre 2007\u00a0\u00e0 Deer Isle, dans l’\u00c9tat du Maine, aux Etats-Unis. Inutile de dire qu’en France encore une fois sa mort personne n’en a parl\u00e9, normal, c’est la France, et en plus c’est un musicien, un saltimbanque…<\/p>\n

En 1984, \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque o\u00f9 sort le disque c’est une \u00e9norme vedette incontest\u00e9 et incontestable du folk, de la country et du rock. Aux Etats-Unis, il est aussi connu que les Eagles.\u00a0\u00a0Pour cet album, et pour ce morceau en particulier il est entour\u00e9 de Russ Kunkel \u00e0 la batterie et percussions, Mike Hanna au piano, synthetizer, Joe Lala congas, triangle.<\/p>\n

Ce morceaux \u00e0 mes yeux est une pure merveille, un joyau d’\u00e9criture, une page de vie dans tout ce qu’elle a de plus banal, de plus simple et de plus vrai. C’est un texte qu’aurait pu \u00e9crire Bruce Springsteen, avec son regard aigu sur les paum\u00e9s de l’Am\u00e9rique, ces perdus de la vie, qui quoi qu’il fasse loupent tout. Cette chanson m’a toujours boulevers\u00e9, et je la trouve intemporelle. Le genre d’histoires qu’on trouve dans les journaux \u00e0 la rubriques faits divers ou les choses de la vie… La rencontre d’un paum\u00e9 sans espoir\u00a0et d’une fille perdue attir\u00e9 par le soleil. J’esp\u00e8re que vous aimerez ce morceau. Vous allez pouvoir vous faire une petite id\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

Tucson, Arizona rising in the heat like a mirage <\/span> Tony keeps his Chevy like a virgin locked in his garage <\/span> He brings it out at midnight and cruises down the empty boulevards <\/span> And he prowls the darkened alleys that snake between the city’s thirsty yards <\/span> The lonely desert skies reflect the anger in his eyes and it is dawn<\/span><\/p>\n

His father died of drinking and left five children sinking with his mom <\/span> His older brother Bobby never made it back from Viet Nam <\/span> With high school well behind him he lives at home and works this shitty job <\/span> And he thinks his ’60 Chevy is the only true amigo that he’s got <\/span> His heart is filled with sadness and his soul is like some ugly vacant lot<\/span><\/p>\n

Mary Estelle Hanna came out from Louisiana for the sun <\/span> A deal gone bad in Dallas left her burned and broke and on the run <\/span> To make the rent and groceries she takes this job at $3.15 an hour <\/span> Serving shots of whiskey and tequila in some smoky red-neck bar <\/span> And she dreams some day she’ll make her way to L.A. and become a movie star<\/span><\/p>\n

Tony saw her working, he swallowed hard and asked her for a date <\/span> Mary laughed and answered \u00ab\u00a0I would but every night I’m working late\u00a0\u00bb <\/span> He said he had some cocaine that she could have if she’d just ride along <\/span> She said \u00ab\u00a0What the hell, I may as well, I haven’t had no fun in so damn long\u00a0\u00bb <\/span> He picked her up at closing time they pulled out on the road and they were gone<\/span><\/p>\n

Tony’s mom got frantic when she found her son had not come home <\/span> Mary’s roommate panicked and called the sheriff from a public phone <\/span> They asked her lots of questions <\/span> She tried her best to tell them what she saw <\/span> And late that night they found poor Mary lying in some narrow, dusty draw <\/span> The coroner reported that she hadn’t been deceased for very long<\/span><\/p>\n

Two weeks on they found it buried to the windshield in the sand <\/span> There inside lay Tony with a small revolver in his hand <\/span> The papers simply stated it must have been the drugs that drove him mad <\/span> The neighbors speculated what could make a good boy go so bad <\/span> Well, it might have been the desert heat <\/span> It might have been the home he never had <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
